The Nature Of Light. An exhibition by the pupils of Frances Bardsley

During the Easter holidays we were invited to exhibit at the Mercury Shopping Centre, Romford.  On show was a selection of drawings by our girls in response to the Cornelia Parker exhibition ‘One Day this Glass Will Break’ which was on tour to our gallery from the Southbank centre in March.

Deputy manager, Natalie Bays in collaboration with THE BIG DRAW kindly organised a Screen printing workshop led by artist jenny Bell to coincide with the exhibition. Taking inspiration from author Beatrix Potter the girls were able to learn some new techniques.  At the end of the two days the girls used their new found skills to screen print one of Jenny’s lovely designs onto Tote bags as a keep sake.

Many thanks to Natalie and to all the staff at the Mercury for inviting us along, we had really a wonderful time and look forward to working with you again in the future.
